This is all about the breakdown of the personal relationship between Eisner and Steve Jobs. What I discovered is that the single incident that pushed Steve Jobs over the edge was when he believed, and I think he is right, that Eisner lied to him about blasting Apple Computer in congressional testimony.

Gmail has been a particular pain for Microsoft, according to a new study. When signing up for Gmail, more people switch from Hotmail than from any other competing service, according to Return Path, a company that makes tools to ease the transition from one e-mail program to another. About twice as many people abandoned Hotmail accounts than Yahoo ones in favor of Gmail in the last half of 2004, the study said.

Yeah, performance art....

HOLY CRAP! Apple is getting me so hyped about their plans in the future. I think Apple is gonna bust some big shizzle out this year or next. They have been aligning themselves to be a very strong player in the media creation/consumption market. Seeing as though this market is quickly becoming the biggest consumer market out there (even grandmas wanna see pictures and movies on the computer, at least my mom does), I think Microsoft is feeling the pain. The Cell as a coprocessor as mentioned in the eWeek article makes a lot of sense. A big weakness apple has had is trying to shoehorn nVidia or ATI graphics cards into their pretty, white boxes. (that sounds dirty) If Apple were to have a direct relationship with IBM to customize/create Cell processors for the next-gen Mac boxes, all of a sudden Mac has regained their leadership in the graphic design market. Not only that, they dangle a really sweet carrot in front of high end SFX, 3D modeling, and games producers (for heaven's sake!).
It just gives me goosebumps seeing how apple is so brilliantly positioning itself to become a really excellent player in all things media. Jobs is a genius.
