id like to know what everyone (anyone?) thinks of this. this is a link to one of the ads on the blog (funny how so much of our comments today and in days past have to do with ads:)) anyway, i am in general and in practice against gun control and gun legislation, not because i am against any kind of gun related safter measures, but because they are written by liberals that dont want anyone to have guns in the first place. however, i really kind of think the techonology spoken of in this ad is pretty rad. i mean, if i lived in a home where my husband had guns, i would feel a lot more comfortable if they had this type of an identifier on them. case in point, say i had three kids aged 5, 8, and 11. you better believe that if there were guns in the house, each one of them would know how to use them and that they were NOT toys. however, i can clearly remeber being young and either having friends over at my house or going other places were everyone would go exploring and inevitably get into things that were werent supposed to be gotten into (adult toys belonging to parents, LOCKED liquor cabinets, etc) what im saying is, i d be able to trust my kids not to misuse guns, but what about everyone elses? i also had a friend in arizona, steve, whose father owned several very expensive guns. steves "friend" who had been in and out of the house for years stole it and got very near to selling it before the police searched his house and found it. i guess to me this kind of thing advertised on that link would ensure the gun only be used by its rightful owner (s). also, i remember bryan was telling me that he learned in his handlers class that he is responsible for that gun, meaning if anyone gets their hands on it and commits a crime, he can be held responsible. this would be another way to prevent things like that happening.
number two
its too bad about microsoft, even though me and almost everyone else dislikes or hates them. i remember this one time bryan took me to his old work, and it was so depressing to see all those buildings that used to be booming with tech stuff be up for lease. but maybe like the article said they need to die before they are re born...

lets not discuss your parents and their adult toys please... : /

i think its a pretty cool technology. i think it would be cooler to be able to program it for different users and have sort of protected login. i mean... handgun to firewire/USB etc... with some sort of a software interface to make different users and program different aspects of the weapon...

but some sort of ID technology would have to be impeccably reliable. if it wasnt, the consequences could be heinous.

i would have to disagree that its sad about microsoft. theyre a long ways off from collapse and redmond is far from being a ghost town (not that those things would make me sad). theyre a company that doesnt innovate. the more tech savvy that people become the more displeased with microsoft they will become.
